Welcome to Mother (the "App"). By downloading or using the App you agree to these Terms of Use. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

Who we are

Mother is made by Nathan Mallon, a sole trader in New South Wales, Australia (ABN 88 425 254 362). "We" and "us" mean that. Contact: hello@getmother.app.

The App

Mother provides weather information, forecasts and visualisations, optionally using data from a personal weather station you connect.

Weather information is not a safety service

Weather information may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete or unavailable, including severe weather warnings. Mother is for general information only. Do not rely on it for decisions affecting safety, life or property. For official warnings, always use your national meteorological service — in Australia, the Bureau of Meteorology.

Your station and your data

If you connect a weather station, you're responsible for having the right to use its credentials. Credentials you enter are stored on your device. See our Privacy Policy for how data is handled.

Mother+ subscriptions

• Mother is free to download and use. Mother+ unlocks additional features.
• Mother+ is available as an auto-renewing monthly or annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime unlock. Current prices, trial lengths and subscription durations are shown in the App before you purchase, and vary by region.
• Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
• A subscription renews automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
• Any free trial converts to a paid subscription unless cancelled before it ends. If you buy a subscription during a free trial, the unused portion of that trial is forfeited.
• You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings at any time.
• Purchases, refunds and billing are handled by Apple, not by us. Refund requests go to Apple.

Acceptable use

Don't misuse the App: no reverse engineering beyond what the law permits, no interfering with its operation or our servers, and no use that breaks the law or infringes anyone's rights.

Third-party data

The App incorporates third-party weather data and services, including Apple WeatherKit, Open-Meteo, RainViewer, OpenWeatherMap, the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and your station provider. Their terms and attribution requirements apply where relevant, and we don't control their accuracy or availability.

Availability

We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the App, including features that depend on third-party data. If we discontinue a paid feature during a paid period, contact us.

Disclaimer and liability

Except as set out below, the App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, and to the maximum extent permitted by law we are not liable for any damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the App or its weather information.

Australian consumers: nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our goods and services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. Where we are permitted to limit our liability, it is limited to resupplying the service or paying the cost of resupply. Consumers elsewhere keep any equivalent non-excludable rights under their local law.

Changes

We may update these Terms. We'll update the date above, and continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. This doesn't deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer laws in your own country of residence.
